Parents Council

The Parents Council’s main objectives are to

  • develop effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school, and;
  • engage in activities or provide facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.

There are five volunteer committee members but many others who volunteer, either on a regular basis or on an ad hoc basis, supporting and carrying out activities of the Parents Council.  These activities include raising funds, promoting the school and playgroup, nurturing and developing social relationships among the community and between the school community and other organisations and communities.

The parents/carers have been an essential part of Rowandale since before the school opened its doors to their first pupils in 2007.  We play an important role in supporting Rowandale through fund raising to provide the “extras” that enrich our children’s educational experience.

Our contributions have funded many aspects of school life, from clubs, sports, equipment, iPads and tablets, laptops, story sacks, cameras and musical instruments to training for staff, improvements to the outdoor classroom and the polytunnel.  This year, we are fundraising for a numeracy scheme.

To do this, each year we hold several events including a Christmas Fayre, Summer Fete and a Summer Social.  We apply for grants, pack bags, bake cakes, organise raffles and anything else we can think of that will raise funds to provide resources for the school to enhance our children’s education.  Parents/carers have been sponsored to cycle and run many miles too!  One of our parents is a qualified yoga instructor and she teaches a yoga class every Wednesday in the hall for parents/carers.  The money raised through her classes goes directly to the school.

All parents and carers are welcome to our meetings.  There are 5 elected members who are responsible for the day-to-day running of Parents’ Council and 2 representatives from each school year.

Next Meeting:   Tuesday 20th September @ 7pm in the school hall

We look forward to a wonderful school year. If you have any questions or want to get involved, please contact us.  The PC needs you – we always welcome new faces and new ideas!  We can be reached at
